  3. SamUL - Variety Pack 2

    Version 1.0.0

Well, here it is. It has been 6 months since I've released a level to the public. I hope this meets the expectations you have and that you have a great time playing my latest work. I'm sorry for the repeat of Pogo songs, but I burned myself out 6 levels into the pack and struggled to make anything else. I can't think of anything else to say, I'm just very tired of soundodger atm and plan to take a fairly long break. Variety Pack 2 includes 8 levels: Beep Block Skyway - A very short level with a gimmick that most people know from Middlethought's level 'Gonna Fear Now'. Surprisingly, this level has existed a long time before that. Bloodstain - Probably the most fun level in variety pack 2. It has unique mechanics and switches up the gameplay quite a bit throughout the song. Delta - Another very fun and very fast level. Also a fan favorite before the pack even released (and hopefully stays a favorite). Final Drive - A slow paced level with lots of hugs and screen filling patterns. Fairly easy, if that's your thing. Love On Me - Flies like a butterfly, stings like a bee. Despite being very smooth, you'll have to be very careful as well to complete this one. Midnight - A remake of the best level from the infamous caravan palace pack I made almost a year ago. Fairly difficult. Your ability to maneuver between multiple streams of homings will be tested. Spitting Venom - The first, hardest, and longest level in the pack. Every bullet type will be thrown at you multiple times. I wish anyone who attempts this lots of luck. Watching You - This level was made with 13 enemies, and most patterns resulted from experimenting with how you could make patterns from a prime number. Luckily, it turned out pretty great. +2 bonus levels (lone digger free)... Alternate download: Pack Special thanks to Frozec and TSF for playtesting a few levels (and being great people in general) Also, thank you for the support. ~ Sam
  4. I feel like I really haven't said much about myself in the community yet, so I decided to do this quick write up because I have nothing better to do. I've been playing soundodger for almost a year now, and I've been making levels all this time. My first level was trash (like most), but I actually didn't start to make 'good' levels until I started to get a better understanding. There was a point where I just lost the appeal, nothing rewarding or satisfying came out of releasing shitty levels. Hell, nobody even played them so I never knew what I was doing wrong. Around July I uploaded a video for 'Clash', my first level in over a month, and Furret responded. Now this was my first comment from an actually good and well known player so I was pretty excited. Pretty soon Blu and Manic appeared, this was around the time that I discovered the soundodger discord. I joined this not knowing what I was getting myself into. Soon I was given praise and feedback that motivated me and actually got me back into level creating. I've always wanted to say that 'Heathens' and all my other adequate levels were just flukes, but now I think it's safe to say that they weren't and I actually knew what I was doing because of all you wonderful people guiding me. The rest is history I suppose, I never thought I would gain the popularity I did and the love I have been given just a few months ago. Now a little bit about me... I love video games. All kinds of video games. I've been playing games since I was 4 when I got a gamecube for my birthday. Super Mario Sunshine was my first and still my favorite game of all time. I like to play Super Smash Brothers with friends and even at fun tournaments at school, I also like to play games like Pokemon by the fire on a cold winter day. I think I'll do my ten favorite games in no specific order down here for y'all to feast your eyes upon. 1. Super Mario Sunshine 2. Kirby Air Ride 3. Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 4. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth 5. Rayman Legends 6. Pokemon Moon 7. Super Meat Boy (Proud to say I've 100% this) 8. Terraria 9. Super Smash Brothers (melee & 4) 10. Super Mario Galaxy 2 I also enjoy writing, swimming, badminton, science, computers/technology, cooking, and video editing. A while ago I auditioned for a cooking show featuring children, I made it to the final rounds of the audition before getting cut (RIP). I also have a YouTube channel that took off because of fucking geometry dash, I want to put it behind me now that I don't play the game anymore but I'll always be associated with it. I do want to stream more often though, I just haven't really had the time or the energy lately. I have plans for finishing Super Mario Sunshine on stream and playing through some old childhood games of mine with a couple of friends, hopefully my internet can prevail. Thankfully because I'm only 15 (still a minor, Satin) I don't need to know what I'm going to be doing in life, but for now, I think I'll just enjoy it c: Friend me on steam: Youtube: Discord: SamUL_A#3756 Recent level pack:
  5. Version 1.0.0

I never know if people will actually like levels when I upload them because I'm always trying something different...

  7. Hunnid-P - Pumpkin Hills

    Version 1.0.0

Again, I'm trying something new for the first time so it won't be perfect. This level is heavily inspired by Blu and his effect levels, hopefully I was able to recreate that feel in a new way. Enjoy! ~ Sam
  8. Version 1.0.0

Featuring 8 original levels to 8 very different songs! This project was huge for me, even though there are only 8 levels I ended up making something like 20 at the start. While I got better at creating I started to remove levels that weren't that good enough and building new ones. 3 of these levels are post Heathens, it should be easy to tell which ones are because they stand out from the rest in design and gameplay. Besides Heathens, I think it's safe to say that these ARE the best levels I have ever made, and bundled up in one neat little pack just for you! I'd like to thank everyone that supported me in the discord chat, mostly ManicVolcanic for play testing a few levels and giving honest feedback that I used to make the levels even better. I wouldn't of been motivated to do this if I didn't have all of you enjoying the crap I make. Keep reading for a quick little blurb on each level! Alaskan Trouble (CFTKK) - A strange song but a very unique level that tests you in multiple ways. A bit on the slower side, but that doesn't mean it won't give you a challenge! Bite Size Candies (Pogo) - This level is fast paced and action packed. Following the cramped style, you will need to make quick movements to beat this one. Magic (Mystery Skulls) - Another level with unique patterns and tight movements. Good luck on this one, you'll need it! Peanut Butter Jelly (Galantis) - Extremely fun and quick! You'll need to be pretty good at streams and remembering what comes next if you want to survive this brutal level! Prow'd (Phonetic Hero) - A level I'm rather prow'd of. Following the style of frog of lore, the melody isn't your main enemy but rather the drums and bass! Starfish Man (CFTKK) - Even though this level is also from CFTKK, the song is so different you wouldn't know otherwise. The easiest level in the pack and a personal favorite of mine! Super Mix Sunshine (Koji Kondo ft. Me) - A 14 minute level that tests every main skill in the game with a soundtrack from my favorite game! This was the only level I haven't 100% completed in the pack, I wish anyone that will try and complete this level a lot of luck! To The Moon (Dunderpatrullen ft. Fantomenk) - Possibly the hardest level besides super mix sunshine. It uses fast paced bullets and timewarps to give you quite the adrenaline! +1 secret bonus level... Have fun! ~ Sam
  9. Version 1.0.0

Not my best, but I tried a lot of new stuff and I think it turned out pretty good. Thought I would share this to get feedback on these types of levels, please feel free to tell me what you think, no matter how shit you think the level is. For a more detailed explanation on the level, check out this video where I get 100% + heart completion:
  10. Version 1.1

Here's a level I've been working on for a while that I decided to release outside of the pack. It's been a long time since I've uploaded a level so I'm glad I was able to get this out. This level is entirely possible, some parts are really tight and fast but it never gets too insane. I did a lot of XML editing for this one, now that I'm getting use to making 'good' levels I've been more comfortable throwing in more edits into them. Pack is going to be released on November 9th, so stay tuned my dudes!
  11. Version

I'm pretty proud of this level, I think it's one of my best. The fact that I was able to beat it makes it a lot more reassuring that it's possible, right? Don't know what to say about it, I picked the song because I liked the game as a child so yeah, download it!!!
  12. Version 1.0.0

Artist : (I own all the songs on my laptop, but for this pack I downloaded some of them off YouTube because I was having a hard time transferring them from apple to windows, I'm terribly sorry) Well here it is, after almost a month and a half of work I present to you my biggest project yet. This pack includes 10 levels ranging from ok to great, easy to nightmare inducing, smooth to chaotic, and slow to fast. ALL LEVELS WERE BEATEN WITH HEART (besides Lone Digger and Dragons) BEFORE I UPLOADED. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DIFFICULTY I GIVE YOU ALL PERMISSION TO NERF AN UNFAIR PART. Here is a quick summary of my thoughts on each level in the compilation: Aftermath - A simple and easy level that focuses mainly on syncing to the tremendous bass without over doing it. If you get into the rhythm of the song it gets much easier and the sudden speed ups won't give you any problem. Even though it rarely ever goes into the negative time warp zone this level was heavily inspired by 'I do what I want', a personal favorite from the main game. Clash - The first level to be in the pack and a great song in general. This was the level that was kind of a rebirth of my soundodger levels, after this one I became a little more popular and then ended up right here where I am today. The level itself has some tight dodges and quick motions, but with a little practice the patterns are easy to learn. Comics - This level is strange, I will admit, but so is Caravan Palace. I made this level after an entire day at Six Flags so my body was exhausted and my mind was bursting with energy, that was how this level got born into the world. The drops are a lot of fun to play and the final segment syncs really well. This was the first level in the pack that turned out just the way I wanted it to. Dragons - Possibly my least favorite level. It's very fast and gets too chaotic, I was debating whether or not to remove most of the bullets but then that would make the level bland, if you know what I mean. But just because it's my least favorite doesn't mean I hate it, in fact the final segment is really challenging without being unfair. If you have a problem with the level I give you all rights to edit it so it can be what you want it to be. (Bonus Level) Lone Digger - Why is this a bonus level? Well, it's extremely old for one and two it's mainly experimental and impossible. I was seeing what I can do with only one enemy and that was how the level was born, don't expect to beat this one in your entire life unless you are the luckiest person alive. Let's be honest here, if I were to upload this to youtube it would get thousands of views and that's not what I want for this shitty level so it's here or nowhere. Midnight - One of the best and hardest levels in the pack. The video up on youtube is an old version, I nerfed and balanced difficulty for this one in the pack. I had a lot of fun making the patterns for this song and I was really happy how they turned out, you just have to have a lot of patience to learn them. Overall this level is very strange but in one of the best ways possible. Mighty - Another difficult level with a song I never really liked until I started this pack. Many patterns. like Midnight. were experimental to see how fast and hard can it get without it being impossible. You must have a mighty will to beat this level! (It's the best pun I can do, sorry) Newbop - What?! An easy level?! Well it sort of is, it's a level that took inspiration from almost every bean level and mashed it into one funky disasterpiece. If you beat this level, congratulations! I never expected anybody to even play the levels so give yourself a pat on the back! Pirates - And another easy level, but this time with a side of extra easy. Fun fact, this is my second level ever (out of sixty) to use three enemies, I had the most fun syncing time warp to the bullets, especially the part I show in the trailer for this pack. This was the last level to be made but the first one to be beaten, go figure. Wonda - My favorite song of the ten levels, it's so, funky for lack of a better term. The video of it in the trailer is an old version, the one in this pack is nerfed a lot so I was actually able to beat it. One part of this level that I really like is that it starts at ten enemies, then five, then three, then one all over the span of the level. It keeps the gameplay fresh! So now that you know a little bit more about the levels, go download them and give them a try! You might love some and hate some, so I'm here all year to accept feedback and redo stuff you just can't stand! (But please do it in a nice way, I'm not saying that because I get butt-hurt it's just because I don't see why I would want to help an asshole.)
  13. Version 1.0.0

Probably my best level, I thought I would give uploading it a try so feel free to do whatever you want with it! I hope to be more active in the soundodger community now, it's a great place where I've learned a lot from really nice people. Thank you to Furret who's been giving advice on how to improve my levels for a long time now, I really appreciate it and take all of your comments into account when making levels!
